Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship
Scholarship program for registered Cherokee citizens who are high school juniors or seniors who are taking required general education courses at a college or university while still in high school. Applicants living outside the Cherokee Nation Reservation or Contiguous area (see map on second page of linked handout below) are not eligible. Private and proprietary institutions are not eligible. 

Chief and Deputy Chief Honor Awards
A one-time scholarship program for registered Cherokee citizens who are high school seniors who have been named as the Valedictorian or Salutatorian or a rank of 1 or 2 at a public school. Must have a 3.5 GPA or above. Residency restrictions apply (see map on second page of linked handout below). Private schools are not eligible.

High School Honor Cord
The Cherokee Nation Honor Cord is available for current registered Cherokee Nation citizens who are graduating high school seniors. Students are eligible for one honor card per lifetime and must be applied for and received in the calendar year of their graduation. Honor cords are provided to recognize Cherokee Nation citizens at high school graduation ceremonies. The application can be found on the Gadugi Portal.

Applications will be accepted during these enrollment periods: due by 4:59 pm Central Time.

  • Fall application opens March 1 and closes June 15

  • Spring application opens October 1 and closes December 15

  • Applications can be submitted via the Gadugi Portal.

Chief and Deputy Chief Honor Awards

Applications will be accepted during these enrollment periods: due by 4:59 pm Central Time.

  • Application opens March 1 and closes March 31*

  • Applications can be submitted via the Gadugi Portal.

*If the deadline falls on Saturday or Sunday, the application will be available until 4:59pm CST the next business day (Monday)
