Cherokee Nation Health Services (CNHS) provides comprehensive audiology services and hearing aid support to eligible patients. Our Audiology team works with patients to evaluate hearing needs, recommend appropriate hearing devices, and provide ongoing support to help improve hearing and quality of life.

Eligibility and Scheduling

  • Patients must have an active chart with Cherokee Nation Health Services to receive Audiology services.

  • Patients may contact the CNHS Audiology Department directly to request placement on the referral list for services.

Once an appointment is scheduled, patients will receive notification by phone or text with their appointment information.

Hearing Evaluation

Patients will receive a comprehensive audiological evaluation performed by a CNHS audiologist.

Based on the results of the evaluation, the audiologist will discuss the patient's hearing needs and recommend the most appropriate hearing aid or hearing aids, when indicated.

Hearing evaluations must be completed through the Cherokee Nation Health Services Audiology Department to qualify for hearing aids through the CNHS Hearing Aid Program. Hearing evaluations completed by outside providers cannot be used for program eligibility.

Hearing Aid Coverage

  • Cherokee Nation Citizens

    • Cherokee Nation citizens receive 100% coverage for hearing aids recommended by the CNHS audiologist.

  • Citizens of Other Federally Recognized Tribes

    • Patients who are citizens of another federally recognized tribe receive coverage for one hearing aid recommended by the CNHS audiologist. If an additional hearing aid is recommended, the patient may purchase the additional device at the contracted price available to Cherokee Nation Health Services through the hearing aid manufacturer.

Additional coverage options may be available depending on the patient's tribal affiliation. Patients are encouraged to speak with the Audiology Department for additional information regarding potential coverage.

Pediatric Patients

Pediatric patients receive 100% coverage for hearing aids recommended by the CNHS audiologist, regardless of tribal affiliation.
