The Recovery Employment Program provides assistance to Cherokee Nation citizens who are seeking, in, or completing treatment for substance misuse.
The Recovery Employment Program is an employment focused program designed to assist Cherokee Citizens who suffer from substance misuse and are at any point in their recovery journey. The program works to assist citizens overcome barriers created by their substance use disorder, so they may successfully move forward with their sobriety while also promoting healthy positive interactions with family and communities. Recovery Employment services are on a case-by-case basis and can include, but are not limited to, the following; assistance with ID attainment, counseling, health care, behavioral health, clothing, hygiene, housing, driver’s license reinstatement, vocational training and other relevant services.
The Recovery Employment Program operates within the Career Services Group of Cherokee Nation, allowing for easy referral and access to other employment and training programs.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a Cherokee Nation citizen
Reside or plan to reside within a county located within the Cherokee Nation Reservation
Have barriers to employment or positive family and positive social engagement related to substance misuse
These services are designed to support individuals who face barriers to employment and positive social engagement and who are actively engaged in overcoming these barriers, including those who are:
Currently experiencing barriers to employment or income related to substance misuse
Substance misuse causing barriers to positive family or social engagement
Required Documents
Applicants must provide the following:
Cherokee Nation tribal membership
Social Security Card
Assistance to obtain these cards may be provided
Other required documents may be needed for certain services and will be discussed during intake process.
