The Cherokee Nation Vocational Rehabilitation (CNVR) Program began in 1992 as the first continuous Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation program in the state of Oklahoma.

It is a discretionary grant with a five-year grant cycle. Vocational Rehabilitation's fiscal year is from October 1 to September 30. 

CNVR is not a scholarship program but is based on eligibility. If a person is determined eligible, CNVR is able to assist with the cost of training/re-training at universities, colleges, and technology centers to acquire the skills and education needed to become gainfully employed or retain gainful employment.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Citizen of a federally-recognized tribe

2. Reside within the Cherokee Nation reservation

3. Have a mental or physical disability which results in a substantial impediment to employment

4. Can benefit in terms of an employment outcome from CNVR services and require CNVR services to prepare for entering into or retaining gainful employment

5. Require CNVR services to prepare for, enter in, or retain gainful employment

2. Hearing impairments

3. Orthopedic impairments

4. Psychological disorders

5. Diabetes

6. Seizure disorders

7. Visual impairments

8. Learning disabilities

9. Respiratory disorders

2. Proof of tribal citizenship

3. Proof of Social Security Number

4. Proof of physical address (P.O. Box not accepted)

5. Proof of disability (Medical/psychological records, school assessment records [IEP])
